"Another city in ruins... never again!"
Homo Avades is a human in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Resurrected and summoned by Zorba to destroy Grand Trad, it is the last boss encountered in the first arc of the game.

Profile[]
Homo Avades was slain by Louis Guiabern at an unknown time and was brought to the late Hythlodaeus V's royal funeral to be presented to the masses on the danger of humans. Following the attack at the Regalith Grand Cathedral, orchestrated by Louis' subordinate Cirsium Zorba, due to its massive size and horrifying appearance, its corpse was left untouched at the plaza in front of the cathedral.
When the protagonist, Strohl and Hulkeberg confronted Zorba to stop his Day of Calamity, at the edge of his defeat, Zorba channeled the last of his magic into the corpse of Homo Avades, revealing it to be the centerpiece of his Day of Calamity. Zorba then seemingly committed suicide by falling off the roof of the cathedral, and Homo Avades was resurrected. It then began wreaking havoc outside the Grand Cathedral and moved towards the city, forcing the protagonist and the party to confront it. With the help of their Archetype abilities, the party was able to slay Homo Avades once more and put it down for good.
A recolored version with improved resistances and upgraded attacks known as "Diabolus Avades" appears as an optional mid-boss in the Tyrant's Star. While defeating it is optional, ignoring it will result a much stronger version of the Destroyer Charadrius final boss encounter. Should Diabolus Avades be defeated, it will reveal the naturally strongest weapons of the Mage, Warrior and Knight lineages.

Doing so reduces the Assailant's HP by 95%. She will become tired after this happens once, and can only repeat this action every other cycle.
- The Assailants will remain in the battlefield for a turn. If they are not taken out before the end of the turn, Homo Avades will use Ambush Assault once before it uses Shell Regeneration to regenerate the shell and returning them to a dormant state (otherwise, the attack fails).

Trivia[]
The "Tree-man," presumed to heavily inspired Homo Avades's design.
- Homo Avades resembles the "Tree-man," the focal point from the right panel of The Garden of Earthly Delights. Additional changes are added to the monster's design, such as half of its face peeled off and frog soldiers living inside the egg-shaped torso.
- It is possible to defeat Homo Avades when its heart is still up in the air. Whenever this happens, the host of figures cicrcling around its heart will continue to do so as if they are unaffected by gravity.
