Heretic Magus appears as a sub-boss found within Tartarus, on the 35th floor of the Arqa Block, with two Grievous Tables for assistance. An enemy version with less health under the name Magical Magus can later be found within the first half of the Tziah Block.
As a sub boss, it is neutral to the Rage ailment, resists Distress, and is immune to all other ailments. It will attack using a mixture of Electric and Wind attacks such as Garula and Zionga, which can be dangerous if they target Junpei or Yukari, especially if they are inflicted with Poison from the Grievous Table using Poisma on one of them. The Grievous Tables are weak to Ice, while the Heretic Magus is weak to Electric. One of the best Personas for the protagonist to use against this mini boss is Tam Lin, as he is immune to Electric attacks and can hit the Electric weakness of the Heretic Magus with his own Zio attack.
