The Hell Knight is a Shadow in the Persona series.

Profile[]
Persona 3 / FES / Portable[]
Hell Knights first appear as a group of three sub-bosses guarding the 146th floor of Tartarus. They are neutral to Charm and Poison while blocking all other ailments. It later reappears as a normal enemy in the Harabah Block of Tartarus, between floors 181 to 189. This normal variant may potentially surprise the party with Infuriate, as the skill does not appear on their scan screen.
Due to the diverse moveset and somewhat high levels of the bosses, grinding may be necessary. Using Personas that are not weak to Electricity and Darkness (for both the protagonist and their allies) are very helpful, and having extra Dis-Poisons on hand wouldn't hurt.
Since Akihiko has just awakened to Caesar for Electricity immunity and group debuffs, he's an incredible party member of choice. Aim to get him to level 47 so that he has Matarunda to reduce the bosses' offense all at once. You'll need to rely on physical damage for your offense, so fielding physical attackers like Junpei and Aigis can progress the fight significantly (be mindful of their Tetrakarn). Your healers' weaknesses are threatened by the Knights' movesets - Yukari will need an Accessory to defend against the Maziodynes, while Ken runs the risk of getting KO'd by a stray Mudo - so you may need to have the protagonist play the heal/support role for this one.
It is possible to inflict Charm on them, which can make this battle much smoother; having both Incubus and Succubus as Personas will enable the use of the fusion spell Dreamfest, which has a high chance to Charm all of the Hell Knights at once and make this a trivially easy fight. Alternatively, landing Poison can cause all the Knights to lose 100HP per turn.
Hell Knights may later be found again within the first section of Antenora in the Abyss of Time. In addition to using Mudo and Mamudo, they may summon a Killing Hand to aid them in battle. If a party member is afflicted with Fear from the Hell Knight's Evil Touch, the Killing Hand will use Ghastly Wail to finish them off if given the opportunity.
Persona 4 / Golden[]
Hell Knights appear on B7F and B8F of the Secret Laboratory within the Midnight Channel. They will alternate between using Mudoon and Power Charge boosted Heat Wave. When defeated, they may drop Black Reins. Selling four Black Reins at Daidara Metalworks will unlock the Hurricane Coat male armor in the shop.
In Golden, it appears in the same floors above. It replaces Heat Wave with Virus Wave and loses both its immunity to Light and Power Charge. It may also drop Meteorite for trade at Shiroku Pub.
