Harisen Recovery (ハリセンリカバー, Harisen Rikabā)? is an supportive ability in the series.
Overview[]
Persona 5 / Royal[]
Harisen Recovery is a Confidant ability party members are able to learn. During battle, if an ally is afflicted with a status ailment, there is a chance an eligible party member will use this ability to remove the ailment at the start of their action, including at the start of a One More (but not after a Baton Pass). Harisen Recovery cannot activate if the user themselves is having an ailment, even if the ailment would expire on the same turn.
Generally, the party members' respective Confidants need to be leveled up to Rank 6 to have this ability unlocked, with the exception of Morgana, Sumire Yoshizawa and Goro Akechi (in Royal) at Rank 7.
Persona 5 Strikers[]
All members of the Phantom Thieves are able to use Harisen Recovery by default, though there are BOND upgrades that can cause it to happen more often.
Unlike how it worked in the original games, Harisen Recovery can now cure the Down status ailment.
Etymology[]
The term comes from harisen (張り扇?, lit. "slapping fan"), which is a giant paper fan used in comedy acts, similar to slapstick. This object also appears in Persona 2: Innocent Sin when Maya Amano, Eikichi Mishina and Lisa Silverman perform their demon contact combo, mimicking the said cliché Japanese slapstick.

Trivia[]
- In Persona 5, Yusuke Kitagawa's animation is bugged as the harisen might sometimes go missing when used on the protagonist. That has been fixed in Royal.[1][2]
