Guts is a traveling mercenary who joined the Band of the Hawk, a band of mercenaries found by the charismatic Griffith in a mission to conquer the world. However, after Griffith horrifically betrayed the Band of the Hawk and sacrificed them to apostles and molested his former love interest Casca to the point of insanity in a horrific event known as "the Eclipse," he rechristened himself as the Black Swordsman, who mercilessly slays apostles all over the land and swears great revenge against his former friend Griffith. During his quest against Griffith and demonkind, Guts befriends a new set of companions and has to engage in an inner conflict against the Beast of Darkness, a manifestation of his trauma of the Eclipse.

In Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2, Guts appears as a guest character alongside Schierke, Skull Knight, Mozgus, Isidro, Ivalera and Puck who are also from the Berserk series. Though Isidro, Ivalera and Puck aren't playable.
Adds Phys Pierce. +20% to damage dealt with Physical skills. Reduces the cost of Physical attack skills by 1MP. +25% to critical hit rate. +20% to Phys hit rate. When dealt a killing blow, survive with 300 HP up to 3 times.
