History[]
Griffith was a mercenary leader with the dream of building his own kingdom, no matter what. He was willing to do whatever it took to accomplish his ambition. One of the soldiers, Guts' brute strength, proved to be very vital for Griffith. However, after winning a war, Guts planned to leave the Falcons. Desperate, Griffith challenged Guts to a fight for Guts' freedom, only to lose in one clean swoop. Mad that Guts left so easily, Griffith slept with the princess of Midland, Charlotte, to feel in control again, only to realize what he had done. He was captured by the king, who sentenced him to be tortured. One year later, Guts and what remained of the Falcons rescued Griffith, but it was already too late; Griffith's body was rendered almost down to nothing. Unable to contain it, Griffith made a deal with the God Hand, becoming the fifth member, by sacrificing the Band of the Falcon. Reborn as Femto, Griffith made Guts watch as he raped his lover, Casca, earning Guts' overwhelming hatred. Before they could be killed, Guts and Casca were rescued at the last minute by the Skull Knight, who carried them to safety.
It turns out Casca was pregnant with Guts' child, now having been corrupted by Femto's assault. This Demon Child protected Casca with all his life, until he couldn't anymore. To preserve his life just a bit further the Egg of the Perfect World swallowed the child, which only allowed him to become part of Griffith's vessel in the physical world when the latter was reincarnated into the world, forming a new Band of the Falcon with Apostles, such as Zodd, continuing his relentless ambition to gain a kingdom of his own.

Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2[]
In Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2, Griffith appears as a guest character alongside Berserker Guts, and Zodd who are also from the Berserk series, in the second Berserk collaboration. He catches wind of an alternate dimension and goes with Zodd to investigate. Inside, they soon discover that this pocket dimension actually consumes hatred. For the sake of his dream, Griffith goes in to kill the source of this world: Tiamat, only for Guts and the Liberators to kill her first, causing the pocket dimension to collapse. Before they leave, Guts and the protagonist spot Griffith. The protagonist can feel the overpowering aura emanating from Griffith, but knows from the illusions Tiamat previously showed to anger Guts from before, that he did something to deserve Guts' hate. Guts goes in for a swing only for Zodd to block it. Before departing, Griffith reminds Guts that he will not stop until he has his kingdom.

- One of Griffith's unique skills, "Hawk of Light" (光の鷹, Hikari no Taka)?[2] is due to "鷹" meaning both "Falcon" and "Hawk" in Japanese.
- This resulted in a mistaken translation that lasted for a long time until the author of the original Berserk manga, Kentaro Miura, clarified that the named was inspired by the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars.
