I honsetly think that Nocturne being called Lucifer's Call is too much of a give away and might have put off sales in Europe. I've heard it's due to trademark issues, but what trademark issues? GrassoLife 20:21, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

That's what I'd like to know. IMO "Lucifer's Call" is more likley to raise trademark issues than "Nocturne". But I've yet to come across exactly what the reason is. :/
Amusingly, the save files are still called "SMT: NOCTURNE". 115.188.88.21 07:12, February 10, 2011 (UTC)
Because there's already a video game called Nocturne. It was released in the US in 1999, and I assume in Euroland too. Atlus USA was able to get the rights to name SMT3 Nocturne here, but whatever publisher in Europe wasn't able to, or didn't want to, get the rights there. Better question is why did Atlus want the subtitle Nocturne so much for the game? No one would've cared if it was just called SMT3, or SMT3: Waiting to Exhale, IMO. 99.72.53.109 09:47, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
According to Kaneda Art Book 3 he stated that Nocturne was originally planned to be an initial game of an SMT3 compilation. The plan dropped as the sales figure didn't meet expectation (about 250k copies sold in Japan the first month). If such series was realizable, I guess the sequels would continue the naming of subtitle using musical terminology like Rhapsody, Sonnerie, etc. -- Inpursuit 23:42, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
