Even though Lucifer is of the CHAOS alignment, and it is no secret that he is an individualist, he always has faith in the protagonist, who is a human. In fact, in Shin Megami Tensei II, he wants to protect the denizens of the world from the judgement of God and Satan. In Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, he (or in this case a she) openly states "I have no love for humanity, but I will not abandon them".

In the actual mythology, Lucifer reprsented individualism and free choice in Abrahamic texts, and could have driven humans to free will by offering them the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.

So, is Lucifer a humanist. If so, then CHAOS can't all be that bad. GalaxiaWild 16:36, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

After the events of Nocturne, it's safe to say he's probably not. His ultimate goal seems to be to eliminate The Great Will, and he's willing to destroy an entire universe (and perhaps all universes) to do so. The last human he left alive wasn't even human anymore. He was treated more like an experiment and a tool throughout the entire process (if that was what the Demi-Fiend chose, anyway).

Perhaps Lucifer is better with demons than humans. Perhaps he was some plan for mankind (somehow). Perhaps this is just a different version of Luficer, and every universe has one. Either way, it's a pretty huge hole if you paint him as a humanist.
