I think NEUTRAL is actually more True Neutral because it doesn't really have a cause, save for eliminating all enemies. [[User:GalaxiaWild|GalaxiaWild]] 16:03, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Temple of Gaia > How similar are MegaTen's alignments to Dungeons and Dragons?

It's obvious that MegaTen's alignments are somewhat derived from those of Dungeons and Dragons, just that MegaTen merged the 3 alignments in each group (Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic). Dungeons and Dragons obviously had a better morality system. How can you match the Nine D&D alignments (Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evi, Neutral Good, True Neutral, Neutral Evil, Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, and Chaotic Evil) with the SMT alignments (LAW, NEUTRAL, and CHAOS)?

Here's some links that may help you:

The morality system used by the majority of the SMT games usually leaves the different alignments as morally ambiguous. I wouldn't argue that one system is better than the other, as a morality system with good and evil set in stone would kind of defeat the point of leaving it to the player to make up an opinion on the contradicting ideologies. In general, though, LAW and CHAOS aren't inherently evil, but taken to extreme lengths, thus fitting under Lawful Neutral and Chaotic Neutral respectively, while NEUTRAL fits under Neutral Good.
