I can't wait for it. I hope P5 The Royal will include dual P.O.V., like "episode yourself" and "episode Aigis": if you don't care about Social Links and want to know more about Goro, play Goro's story. Too bad Royal did not include Goro's POV. But the anime did everything it could to preserve Joker's self-insert status. If they want Joker to be a self-insert, and still write a compelling protagonist for the anime, they could have made an anime that follows Goro's backstory, the events of Persona 5 from Goro's perspective and what Goro does after P5. This way, they can reduce Joker to a voiceless and nameless cameo character (after all, Joker and Goro only met rarely in P5, unless you count Royal, and almost no dialogue options of Joker were directed at Goro himself) and at the same time have an anime with a non-self-insert protagonist. Since Goro knows the protagonist is Joker, he can simply refer to him as Joker in real life too, and always call him Joker in the arc based on Royal's new events. Why did they adapt Persona 5 without giving Joker the focus he needs rather than justify him being still a self-insert with the fact that the anime is from Goro's perspective?
