I'm here to talk about demons in the mainstream Megami Tensei series that have had clans which don't really seem to correspond with their nature and also about slightly off clan names.

There are a few demons which have really are mixed up in clans.

Take Samael for example. In the early Shin Megami Tensei games, Samael was a Datenshi, or Fallen Angel. But from Nocturne onwards, however, Samael is a Vile. What sense does that make?

Another confused one is Mithra. In Soul Hackers, Mithra was a Maou demon, although I don't what sense that makes. It's understandable that in Nocturne and IMAGINE Mithra is a Deity, or Demon God (Majin), because it relates to the mythology. But in Strange Journey, Mithra appears as two demons. Mithra, which is a Fallen demon, and Mitras, which is a Tyrant demon. Again, what sense does that make?

I'm sure there's more but I want to draw the line there because Samael and Mithra are the best examples. If you have more examples, feel free to outline them. GalaxiaWild 20:39, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Not sure about why Samael was in the category to begin with. but as for the change the Fallen ranks seem to consist mostly of Goetic Demons now. Great Mara 21:39, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

The one belongs to Maou/Tyrant race is actually Mitras (only appears in SH and SJ), not Mithra of Deity race. In fact we SHOULD split them into 2 different articles as they're officially treated as 2 different demons. -- Inpursuit 03:52, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
P.S. The one appears in MT2 might also be the Roman Mitras. But I'm not sure because the Japanese Katakana is written "ミトラ" (Mi-to-ra) rather than "ミトラス" (Mi-to-ra-su) [1]. -- Inpursuit 04:10, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
