Etymology[]
In Abrahamic lore, Mount Sinai is the location where God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. The Book of Exodus, chapter nineteen, describes God coming down from the heavens to do so: "Now Mount Sinai was covered in smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly."
