Final Guard (ファイナルガード, Fainarugādo)^? is a Miscellaneous skill.

Effect

Persona 5 / Royal

Once per battle, Final Guard protects a party member from a single-target attack that would otherwise cause them to faint, or the entire party from a multi-target attack that would otherwise cause at least one party member to faint. This includes Insta-Kill and Almighty attacks. It can block fatal damage caused by draining attacks like Life Leech, although the healing would still occur. Final Guard does not activate on reflected attacks.

When protecting the whole party, if a party member can reflect or absorb the incoming damage, it would still be reflected and absorbed normally. Final Guard will not activate if the fatal hits are going to miss, as the shield is only raised after accuracy check. It will also not activate until the ones that would faint have also exhausted all their means of survival (like the Confidant abilities Protect and Endure, the skills Survival Trick, Enduring Soul, Endure, the trait "Circle of Sadness", or the item Homunculus). If a party member is about to be killed by Door of Hades, either with its normal damage or with its insta-kill effect, Final Guard will always kick in and block the entire skill.

Exclusively in the battle against Cognitive Wakaba in Persona 5 Royal, Futaba manipulates her own Palace to create a shield that not only blocks Wakaba's attacks on the party, but also returns the incoming damage back to the Sphinx. When this occurs, if the protagonist is equipped with a Persona with traits like "Retaliating Body" or "Inviolable Beauty", the reflecting damage from this skill will be increased.

Persona 5 Tactica

In Tactica, Final Guard is a Passive skill with the effects of Enduring Soul, meaning it protects the user from one fatal attack and fully restores their HP once per battle.
