Langsuir as she appears in Majin Tensei II
Langsuir (ラングスイル, rangusuiru) is a demon in the series.
History[]
Also known as langsuyar it is a relative of the Pontianak which is a vampiric ghost from Malay Folklore. Langsuir name means eagle. Though the two are similar Pontianak and Lang suir are different, as Lang suir are mothers who suffered from laboring sickness which resulted in the death of both mother and child. 40 days after death the mother will rise, so glass beads are placed in the corpses mouth. The Lang suir is also different in appearance as they are hideous with red eyes and long, sharp fangs. Their main victims are pregnant women, who they murder or attempt to cause a miscarriage. If no women are around the Lang suir will instead feed on fish.
It sucks blood from the victim through a hole on the back of the neck. Cutting the claws or filling the hole with the Lang suirs hair will turn her back into a human. They can fly and take the form of an owl and live rivers or the sea to survive. In Chinese Lang Suir means bad luck people.
