Euphausia Etoreika | Party |
"I felt it to be... a sort of miracle. I never thought I'd be involved in any way with followers of Sanctism. That's why I was so hesitant at first... When I found myself clashing with them, I became even more unsure of what was right. ...But then, that very unsurety is what turned out to be the most important feeling, did it not? Once I learned what frustrated me, what I refused to compromise on, I knew then who I really am at my core. It led me to a realization. I only want to live in a world where you exist..."
Euphausia Etoreika, also known as simply Eupha, is a major playable character in Metaphor: ReFantazio.[1] Living in Virga Island, she is a priestess of the mustari tribe, in a position similar to that of a princess; within the indigenous beliefs that many of the mustari adhere to, she is considered sacred as a central figure, and has been entrusted with a special sacred object. She is specifically a priestess of the "Dragon God Religion," and she's allowed to meet that god face to face and communicate with them.[2]
She has excellent senses even among the Mustari, who already have a high aptitude for magic, and her ability to see Magla with her third eye surpasses that of a fairy.[3]
Appearances[]
- Metaphor: ReFantazio: Playable Character; Follower (Summoner Archetype)[4]
Design[]
Eupha is a young woman with blonde hair in concave bangs, braids over her shoulders and purple eyes. As a mustari, she has a third eye on her forehead used for detecting Magla, as well as a small metal circlet on her head.
Her attire consists of a white cloak patterned with black circles, some of which are only partially filled in, over a modest white top resembling a sweater, green leggings, metal bracers on both wrists and brown sandals. Like other mustari, she will occasionally wear a mask out in public, which in her case, is a metal helm with an engraved floral pattern that leaves three holes open for her eyes to view through.
While aboard the Runner, she forgoes her cloak for a more comfortable appearance.
Personality[]
For much of her life, Eupha was a naive and sheltered girl with little self-confidence. As a priestess of the mustari, all she ever knew was her duty to her people and their Dragon God. She is compassionate at heart, willingly offering herself up as sacrifice to the Dragon God so that her people would no longer suffer. However, once she finds out that she and her people were accidentally worshiping a Human and the mustari priestess's role is not sacrifice, but protection, she became much more self-confident. After awakening to her Archetype, she resolves to not only protect her people, but also to travel the outside world so that she may learn how to better lead her people in it.
As she was isolated for most of her life, Eupha lacks understanding of the outside world, often falling for scams or failing to understand figures of speech, such as when she misinterpreted Junah telling her that her smile is "enough to knock everyone out" for her smile being a dangerous weapon. Despite this, she still shows great kindness to others outside of her home, and is often eager to learn more about the world.
Etymology[]
Euphausia is a genus of krill.

Trivia[]
- Eupha runs with her arms folded back like Futaba Sakura would in Persona 5 Royal's Thieves Den. This is not visible in normal gameplay as her arms are usually obscured by a poncho, but it becomes visible if certain DLC outfits are equipped onto her.
- At the start of her Follower bond, she is initially taken aback by the protagonist's offer to shake her hand, stating that it has a very important meaning in mustari culture. Based on clues offered by her and her brother Edeni, it is implied that its second meaning is as a proposal or sign of courtship.
