Essentials (日用品*)? are types of items in the Persona series.
Overview[]
Unlike general items, essentials emphasize on use during the daily life segment of games, which involves time management. The essential items normally open up more ways time can be spent or enhance other activities.
Types of Essentials[]
- Books: Items that can be read at the cost of passing time. Books might require multiple blocks of time to be finished, but grant additional effects depending on the book, such as increasing the user's Social Stats, opening up more locations on the map or even unlocking certain abilities.
- DVDs: Work similarly to books, but only revolve around increasing social stats.
- Retro Games: Work similarly to books, but they involve minor gameplay mechanics.
- Gifts: Optional gifts that can be given to Confidants while spending time with them, should the event not lead to Ranking up the relationship.
- Decorations: Do not involve any direct gameplay mechanics other than decorating the user's room.
- Incense: Categorized as such in Persona 5 Royal only. Can be used on Personas in Lockdown to increase their stats.
- Other Essentials: A miscellaneous category that lumps minor sets of items that aren't categorized into their own thing, such as fishing rods and boiles. They still support certain daily life mechanics.
