MRF VirgaIsland

Virga Island in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

"The main island of the Malnova Archipelago, almost wholly mustari-inhabited. The isle has only minimal contact with the mainland."
—Description, Metaphor: ReFantazio

Virga Island (ビルガ島, Biruga-tou)? is a location in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The location's name was actually unnamed by the Mustari that live here but following the events of the Dragon Temple, Virga Island would later be officially named Eht Ria.

Profile[]

Virga Island is an island in the southern inland sea and the main island of the Malnova Archipelago, It is almost wholly inhabited by the mustari tribe. It is also the only land in the United Kingdom of Euchronia to be left untouched by Sanctism as even the church will not send its men in, possibly in fear of them witnessing the ruins of Shinjuku and thus discovering the World Before. In return, Virga Island is considered as an "uncivilized island" by people from the mainland, which is the source of the name "Virga."

The island has an indigenous "Dragon God Belief" around the Dragon God Eht, the Dragon that acts as the namesake of "Eht Ria." There is also a priestess who is allowed to meet the dragon god face to face and communicate with it.[1]

Across an island is the Dragon Temple, where the dragon god Eht and the ruins of Shinjuku lie within. Every time when disaster strikes the island, the priestess will be sacrificed to the dragon to appease his wrath. The latest priestess (and ordained sacrifice) is Euphausia Etoreika.

In actuality, the Dragon God Eht is possessed by a Human known as Homo Margo who was exploiting a misunderstanding based on the Mustari's prejudices against other tribes, and the Mustari unknowingly worshiped the Human. The Dragon God itself did not need any human sacrifices to be appeased (as it is an ancient weapon made of Magla like any other Dragon), and only wanted people to fight alongside it when facing powerful monsters.

Activities[]

  • The protagonist can listen to a pagan to increase his Tolerance by 5 coins.
  • The protagonist can sightsee at the island's coast for 6 coins of a certain stat depending on the time of day: Wisdom during the day, Imagination during the night. Neither are available starting from 9/26.
  • The protagonist can give a speech at the podium, where he'll have to give a dialogue choice to win the people's hearts. Based on the random event selected, the correct dialogue choices are "I'll protect the mustari" and "You need cultural exchange." Success results in 6 coins of Eloquence and 5,000 reeve, but failure rewards 5 coins of Eloquence and no monetary compensation.
