Profile[]
Megami Ibunroku Persona[]
Nicholai is a foreign scientist hired by Takahisa Kandori to create the DEVA System. Upon learning that his invention would be used for evil purposes, he tries to kill both Kandori and himself in order to atone. The protagonist is given the choice to either try to stop him or speed up the process. Either way, Nicholai will be interrupted by Aki, who then teleports Kandori and the party to Maki's Mikage-cho. Nevertheless, the protagonist's intention will affect the number of ultimate Personas available at the end of the game.
Nicholai is seen again after the party is teleported to Deva Yuga, where he has been put under Kandori's mind control spell thanks to the Chaos Mirror.
Persona: Tsumi to Batsu[]
Although not making an appearance himself, Nicholai indirectly plays a minor role in Persona: Tsumi to Batsu. His son, Yuri, who was introduced in the aforementioned manga, is one of the members of the Reapers. Much like Nicholai, he assists Yakumo in developing the Schwarz System. In the final conflict, Yuri mentions that his assistance in Yakumo's project is his way of seeking revenge for the way SEBEC used and discarded his father during the events of Megami Ibunroku Persona. Though Nicholai is not referred to by name in the manga, Naotsugu Matsueda confirms Yuri is in fact Nicholai's son in the author's notes at the end of the third book.

Trivia[]
- Like Eriko Kirishima, Nicholai is fluent in English and often inserts English words in his speech. Being fluent, it is rendered in Roman characters rather than Japanese.
- In the manga, Nicholai's speech bubbles are read horizontally instead of vertically, just like western comics. When Kandori and Nanjo are talking to him, their speech bubbles are also read horizontally.
