Raidou arrives at a cafe looking for witnesses when the owner recommends that he search out a carrier named Denpachi Upon arriving in Fukagawa-Cho he is greeted by unfriendly thugs who suggest he enter the nearby bathhouse to request permission to search the village. After a nude showdown with two yakuza thugs the boss Satake authorizes the search but warns to that the Red Cape has been frequently sighted. Raidou is confronted at Denpachi’s home by four Soldiers and pulled into the Dark Realm where he meets an imprisoned mad he must help escape. After helping Denpachi escape he refuses to give information about the Red Cape unless Raidou finds his sister Shizu. Raidou then to Satake who informs him that Shizu is working in the Red-Light District in order to accumulate the funds to pay for his medical expenses after being attacked by The Red Cape. Once Raidou arrives he finds a cane that belongs to Kiyoshi Daidouji, then meets Tae before being greeted once more by the ominous unseen enemy from before. Six matryoshka begin to levitate in the room as the voice informs Raidou that unless he can retrieve the three colored shards from the Matrix Labyrinth he will not see Daidouji. Once the Matrix Labyrinth is done the seal on the door confining Kiyoshi breaks. Kiyoshi prepares to divulge all information on the Daidouji family, only to begin morphing back into The Red Cape, but dies as the entity disconnects from his body and escapes. Out of the shadows steps a figure identifying himself as the Dark Summoner Rasputin. He then informs Raidou that the entity he just saw was Hiruku, a demon that feeds on its hosts fear and anxiety and that Kaya is part of the next phase in his plan. Before leaving he summons one last demon from a matryoshka. Back at the detective agency the Herald of Yatagarasu stops in to warn Raidou about Rasputin saying the he was thought to have died fifteen years prior and is somehow still alive and also that the strongest of Devil Summoners is no match for a Dark Summoner. |

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon (デビルサマナー 葛葉ライドウ 対 アバドン王, Debiru Samanā Kuzunoha Raidō tai Abadon Ō, lit. Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou vs. King Abbadon) is the fourth title in the Devil Summoner series, and the second game starring Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV. It is the direct sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army and is released for the PlayStation 2.
Some considered the North American titling, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon inaccurate as Devil Summoner is not part of the Shin Megami Tensei series, despite carrying elements such as demons that are shared with various titles in the series. The numbering is also considered inaccurate as the title is the fourth in the Devil Summoner lineup, despite being the second game taking place in Raidou Kuzunoha's universe.

Gameplay
Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon features similar gameplay to the previous game, although highly improved. Raidou now fires only one bullet at a time in combat and can fire six rounds before needing to reload (which is now achieved by holding down square). The MP system has been abolished and replaced with a system called the "Magnitite Balancing system". Now demons do not consume Magnitite when summoned, but rather only consume it when they use special abilities or other techniques that would have consumed MP previously. The combat is now faster, and Raidou no longer recruits demons by force, but rather by using demon negotiation, which is more traditional for the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Demon negotiation can be aided by input via other demons in the party or through demon business cards. Additionally, Raidou can now summon two demons at once in combat.
As an added bonus, any player with clear data from Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army will gain several bonuses for loading it at the start of the game. The clear data gives Raidou a commemoration item, Summoner's badge, and Explorer's badge. Additionally some demons who had sided with Raidou during the Soulless Army case will rejoin him without negotiation.

Plot
Prologue
During a routine investigation by the Narumi Detective Agency, Shohei and his teenage apprentice Raidou Kuzunoha respond to a call for help from a client. When the client reveals herself to be Kaya Daidouji, she requests them to kill her. The two are baffled but before they can ask why, mysterious men wearing red armored suits and capes kidnap Kaya while they attack Raidou to halt his pursuit.

Development
Developed and published by Atlus, it was released in Japan on October 23, 2008 in two formats. The standard version included a soundtrack CD, while the limited edition, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon Plus, came packaged with a new version of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne titled Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition, which includes a guest appearance by the titular hero, Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV.
In January 2009, Atlus U.S.A. announced that an English localization was scheduled for a limited release on May 12, 2009. The game was released in a limited production run that included the game and a Raiho plush toy. Each copy is individually numbered. While Atlus has not announced exactly how many units exist, the highest reported collectors number thus far has been over 40,000.
