Shadow is stealing the Desire from a victim

The Shadow steals the Desire from its victim.

Desires (ネガイ, Negai)? are a major plot point in Persona 5 Strikers.

Profile[]

Persona 5 Strikers[]

Initially an amorphous light, a Desire manifests into a tangible red jewel when the victim realizes it has been stolen, since a "desire" in and of itself has no physical shape. Once taken into a Jail's inner sanctum, a Desire turns back into light. Similar to a Treasure in Persona 5, Desires take physical form after sending a Calling Card to the Monarch who collects them en masse.

Desires represent a person's wants and essentially free thought, as those without undergo drastic personality changes and are subject to a Monarch's whims. An example of this is Alice Hiiragi, who steals people's Desires in order to turn them into obsessive fans. She and the other Monarchs are able to do this by using EMMA, an app created by Kuon Ichinose but published by Madicce.

Marketed as a concierge app, EMMA is in reality a sentient AI whose prime directive is to improve humanity by removing all Desires, creating a world with no wants or suffering. When defeated by the Phantom Thieves, the app shuts down and erases all Jails from existence.

In addition to story relevance, Desires are also included in side requests.

Along with Alice, the Monarchs who stole people's Desires are Ango Natsume, Mariko Hyodo, Shuzo Ubukata and Akira Konoe.
