The Dark Realm is a dimension in the Devil Summoner series of games, specifically the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha universe.

Appearances Edit

Design Edit

The Dark Realm is almost indistinguishable from the Capital's "real" dimension except for the different lighting and the fact there are no humans on its streets: most of the Dark Realm's inhabitants are demons of several sorts, depending on the area.

The Dark Realm is hidden from view of ordinary humans, and serves as the abode of demons. However, locations in the Dark Realm mirror the human world - flora, buildings and other man-made structures are laid out in almost the same layout.

Entering the Dark Realm is limited to only a select few, such as the Devil Summoners of the Kuzunoha Clan. They enter the Dark Realm through the Nameless Shrine in Shinoda, beckoning the Herald of Yatagarasu to perform the Ritual of Entry. Once inside, the Devil Summoner may utilize the Dragon Caves to save or visit the good Dr. Victor at the Gouma-Den. There are times when the Devil Summoner and his demons are prohibited from entering certain places in the Dark Realm by a barrier known as the Dragon's Jaws.

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless ArmyEdit

The Dark Realm is often used by demons and scoundrels as a quick getaway method, easing criminal activities by escaping through the dimension. However, it also hides darker secrets. Victims of kidnappings involved in dark arts can be easily contained in the Dark Realm, and in this capacity it is used to stash Kaya Daidouji's friend Rin in an effort to stop Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV's investigation into her kidnapping.

Other efforts to use the Dark Realm in a shady capacity included Rasputin's kidnapping of several sailors in order to plunder several companies' wares in order to supply the Soulless Army project. Raidou himself used the Dark Realm as a means to infiltrate Waden One, among other instances.
