Riko asks the Phantom Thieves to help her get accustomed to using her persona now that she's a member, and the group prepares to enter the Metaverse, but they end up in a village in a desert instead of Mementos, much to Riko's confusion. The others explain that similar errors occurred in the past once their memories returned, and they speculate a mastermind may be behind these events. The Phantom Thieves then hear a girl crying for help and rush to her aid; after earning her trust she supports them in battle against shadows. When the fight ends they learn her name is Oracle and that she is a new member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. The Phantom Thieves, along with Oracle, head toward the palace to steal the "core," running into Fox and Queen at the entrance and later encountering Skull and Panther while exploring. They eventually learn the palace belonged to Oracle, her heart previosly twisted by the belief that she caused her mother's death but notice the murals inside differ from those in her own palace; instead, they speculate the murals depict a snake, rooster, and pig, the three kleshas (the three poisons), which are obstacles to overcome in Buddhism, leaving the group to speculate their meaning. They find the "core" but are attacked by the palace's ruler, Moha, who resembles cognitive Wakaba; after defeating him the Phantom Thieves seize the "core" and the palace begins to collapse prematurely, unlike previous incidents. The group is pulled up via a tractor beam and ends up in a Spaceport, where they are reunited with Mona and another new member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Noir, who had been waiting for them.
