Effect[]
This topic is in need of research for the following reason: * Confuse item drops. This can be discussed on the article's talk page. |
Users inflicted with Confuse will be unable to act on their own volition. Depending on the game this effect may be guaranteed or only have a 50% chance of occurring each time they are given an order. If a confused unit fails an order, depending on the game they may simply waste their turn being "dumbfounded," throw away money, throw away an item, or if it is an allied demon they may return to the stock.
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse[]
In Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, if Nanashi attempts to use Trade on a panicking demon, the demon will give him items without requesting anything in return.
Shin Megami Tensei V / Vengeance[]
In Shin Megami Tensei V, users afflicted with Confusion have a chance of ignoring orders. They will either do nothing or attack allies. If they are the only member in their respective faction, they will attack themselves.
Persona 3 / FES / Portable / Reload[]
In the original Persona 3 trilogy, Panic took over Mute, in that Panic would have sealed away Persona abilities to anyone that was hit by it.
In Reload, Confusion has a chance to make the afflicted either use items randomly or throw away money. Enemies may drop rare coins that can be sold for money or other items.
Persona 5 / Royal[]
In Persona 5, users inflicted with Confuse will be unable to act on their own volition. Each turn, they will either throw away money or throw away an item. If it is an ally, they can also use a healing item; if an enemy, can also do nothing.
The item dropped by enemies is always within the overall scope of negotiation items that can be dropped by all individual Shadows.
Users inflicted with Confuse are vulnerable to Technical damage from Psychic skills.
In Persona 5 Royal, Confuse has a countdown timer of 1 and thus will expire at the start of the user's second turn. It will also instantly be healed if attacked in any form. If Knowing the Heart has been read, Confuse is also vulnerable to Technical damage from Wind and Gun skills.
In Royal, if the user simultaneously Downs an enemy and gets Confused (from a reflected Mind Slice), the user will still get a One More but they are subject to Confused behaviors. However, due to a glitch, if this attack happens after a Baton Pass, the user will be able to act freely during the One More even while being Confused. In either case, an irregular Hold Up will be initiated if all enemies are Downed after this.
Confused Shadows cannot be negotiated with.
