The protagonist can start Makoto's Confidant as early as June 24th after completing Kaneshiro's Palace. To initiate her Confidant, the protagonist must have rank Three Knowledge (Scholarly). She can be found during the day on the third floor of Shujin Academy in front of the student council room. On days off, she can be seen in front of the school's gate.
Completing Makoto's Confidant enables the fusion of Cybele. She also gives the protagonist a Buchi Calculator on 3/19, which unlocks Shadow Factorization earlier in New Game Plus.
