"I shall see that resolve carried out. Should you reach out to take hold of that which you feared, relinquished, and abandoned...the path ahead will prove tempestuous. But I presume you are well aware. Now soar ahead, headless of the muck and dark isolation that surround you. Reclaim that desire called Love! Come...Let us race through fields and forests, and dance across the sky! For I am thou..."
—Chiyome, Persona 5: The Phantom X

Chiyome is a Persona in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

History[]

Mochizuki Chiyome (望月 千代女*)?, also known as Mochizuki Chiyojo or Mochizuki Chiyo (望月 千代), was a sixteenth century Japanese noblewoman, poet and kunoichi living near the end of Sengoku period.

Born with the bloodline of Mochizuki family, one of the leading families of Kouga-ryuu ninja clan, she was raised as a professional ninjutsu user and married to Mochizuki Moritoki, nephew of Takeda Shingen, who was a famous daimyo and the leader of Takeda clan. After Moritoki was killed in the fourth Battle of Kawanakajima, she was assigned by Shingen to establish an undergroud spy network based in Kai Province and Shinano Province serving the Takeda clan, also as a mean of revenge.

Following Shingen's orders, Chiyome set up a dojo specializing in kunoichi training in Netsu Village of Chiisagata-gun (currently Chiisagata District, Nagano), gathered around 200 to 300 orphans and abandoned children, raised and trained them to master techniques such as jujutsu, prayer, ninjutsu, singing and dancing, instrument playing and information-gathering skills including sexual seduction and psychological manipulation. The trained kunoichi were then assigned by Chiyome to travel around the country as wandering mikos to do underground tasks including espionage and assassination for the benefits of Shingen and the Takeda clan.

Despite the fact that there were not many records left to prove her whole life, Chiyome had become a legendary figure in the history of Japan as an outstanding strategist and the leader of one of the largest kunoichi groups.
