MRF Calendar
"Time marches on, and the age of a new king draws nearer..."
Metaphor: ReFantazio

This article covers the calendar followed in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Profile[]

The protagonist has to multitask planning his time traversing the United Kingdom of Euchronia, alongside balancing between developing his Royal Virtues, his bonds with his Followers, and completing important missions marked by a deadline, usually in the form of departing a respective town.

The calendar system has 5 days of the week and 30 days of the month. The days of the week's names are adapted to the fantasy setting. Overall, there are 365 days of the year and though each month has six weeks, December has seven, where the last week, "Idlesweek," is referred to as a week of rest. The story takes place during the year 785.[1]

Recurring events are as follows:

  • Every Idlesday (5th day of the week) is a "Big Bargain Day."
  • Every 29th of the month is a "Weapon/Armour Shop Discount Day."

Trivia[]

  • Four of the five days of the Metaphor calendar are named after the days of the week in Japanese. Only Idlesday (休息日, Kyuusokubi)? doesn't fit this theme.
    • Flamesday (火の曜日, Hi no Youbi)? is based on Tuesday (火曜日, Kayoubi)?, which uses the "fire" kanji (, Hi)?;
    • Watersday (水の曜日, Mizu no Youbi)? is based on Wednesday (水曜日, Suiyoubi)?, which uses the "water" kanji (, Mizu)?;
    • Arboursday (緑の曜日, Midori no Youbi)? is based on Thursday (木曜日, Mokuyoubi)?, which uses the kanji for the color "green" (, Midori)? as a substitute for any kanji that's a direct vegetation reference.
    • Metalsday (鉄の曜日, Tetsu no Youbi)? is based on Friday (金曜日, Kinyoubi)?, which uses the "metal" kanji (, Tetsu)?.
      • Idlesday, meanwhile, is named after Sunday. In Genesis 2:2 & 2:3, the seventh day was the day of rest God took after he had made the world.
