Boogeyman, also spelled as Bogieman, Boogeyman or Boogieman, is an imaginary being used by adults to scare children into behaving. It has no specific appearance and conception of it can vary drastically from household to household within the same community. In many cases, he has no set appearance in the minds of adults or children, but is simply a non-existing embodiment of terror. Some parents will tell their children that if they misbehave then the bogeyman will get them. Bogeymen may target a specific mischief such as one that punishes children who suck their thumbs or misbehavior in general. In some cases the bogeyman is a nickname for the devil.
Bogeyman tales vary by region and may be any gender or asexual.
