This article is about the Persona 5 activity. For the Persona 4 dungeon, see Steamy Bathhouse. |
"This is the bathhouse... Hm, it's in such a secluded area."
The bathhouse (銭湯, Sentō)?, also going by the name Fuji no Yu (富士の湯, Fuji no Yu)? is a location and mechanic in Persona 5.
Profile[]
Persona 5[]
The bathhouse becomes accessible once the protagonist reads the book "Yoncha Wanderer," which unlocks both the bathhouse and the batting cages upon finishing. The protagonist can find it when he cleans his room in Café Leblanc.
The protagonist is able to visit the public bathhouse in Yongen-Jaya during the night, and bathe for 2 points of Charm by default. Mondays and Thursdays grant a special medicinal bath that allow for an additional point of Charm.
If the bathhouse is visited during rainy weather, the public bathhouse will be mostly empty, giving the protagonist the choice on whether to prolong his stay or not. If he chooses to stay, there's a chance he will be able to gain an additional point of Charm. However, if that fails, he will get dizzy and pass out on the floor: he will lose the entirety of his Charm score, giving him a single point of Guts in its place. If he decides not to prolong his stay, he will always gain the default 2 points of Charm. Snowy weather does not influence the bathhouse.[1][2]
In the case the protagonist visits on a Rainy Monday or Thursday, the Rainy Day scenario will become null, and he will earn bonus Charm as if it's a normal Monday or Thursday.[1][2]
A visit to the bathhouse costs 500 yen.

Persona 5 Royal[]
Several key changes to the activity have been made in Persona 5 Royal:
- The book required to access the bathhouse has been renamed to "Yoncha Walker 04", but the means of obtaining it are the same.
- The special medicinal bath has been moved to Sundays only.
- If either snowy weather[2] or the weather warning "Cold Wave" is in effect, the same rainy night scenario will be played.[3]
- On rainy/snowy/Cold Wave nights, instead of having the protagonist make a high-risk & high-reward choice on prolonging his stay, an old man who constantly turns the hot water valve may appear instead, allowing to obtain both a note of Guts and the standard 2 to Charm, a middle ground and an above-average reward.

Trivia[]
- Normally, the medicinal bath days add Japanese mugwort (よもぎ湯, Yomogi Yu)?, but in summer it's changed to mint (はっか湯, Hakka Yu)?.[1][2]
- The hoodie of the child when leaving the bathhouse changes randomly between yellow and gray on a daily basis.[1][2]
- The bathhouse is the only activity in Persona 5 where Morgana doesn't directly accompany the protagonist: instead, he waits for him outside at the changing room.
- In spite of this, Morgana speaks in plural form, suggesting the two of them "go take a bath and refresh themselves." (lit. ourselves)
- In Persona 5 Royal, it is brought up that when Goro Akechi's mother was still alive, she would tell him to go to the bathhouse whenever she brought men home, implying she was a sex worker.
- In promotional material for Persona Super Live 2019, the protagonist can be seen bathing in the bathhouse together with Morgana and Akechi.
- The bathhouse in-game is based on the real world location of Chiyonoyu bathhouse, located in the Sangenjaya district of Tokyo's Setagaya City.
