Also known as Hakutaku in Japan, Bai Ze are intelligent and can understand human speech. They have been revered since ancient times as holy beast who ward off evil spirits. They come in many forms, but are most often depicted with human heads and ox-like bodies, magnificent beards, three eyes in their heads and six in their bodies, and two horns on their heads and four on their bodies. They are also sometimes portrayed with the face of a tiger and the body of a lion. Legend has it that Huang Di, the Yellow Emperor, encountered a Bai Ze who described to him all the 11,520 types of monsters, shapeshifters, demons, and spirits in the world.

Bai ze acts as a rare field boss on Ichigaya field. He can be encountered within the Kagurazaka Zhu Que Caverns and will spawn with Suzaku when he appears as a boss there. Bai ze is among the demons that can be used as a mount within the game.
