Bahan (バハン*)? is a demon in the series.
History[]
Bahan is possibly based on Tatzelwurm from Alpine folklore, a creature with a head of a cat and a body of a snake. The name Bahan could be a corruption of a German word "bahn" - train or railway. In Germany, elongated structures and vehicles, such as trains and railways, are sometimes referred to as Tatzelwurm.
Another posibile inspiration for Bahan is horse tripping snake (馬絆蛇 ) - a Chinese foul-smelling monster resembling a giant snake with a mouse-like or cat-like head, and has a star shaped spot on its forehead. It lives in the river and attacks any passing by humans and horses.
In fact, its Japanese name means 馬絆 (a rope used to tie a horse, also referred to as a dragon). バハン→馬（ば）絆（ハン）.
