Profile[]
BB is one of the Reapers working for Nymphéa, though he primarily serves as a leading scientist and guardian of the Schwartz System, eliminating anyone (even other Reapers) if they try to snoop around its secrets without permission or tamper with it. Ruthless, intelligent, confident and determined in his role as guardian, BB will stop at nothing in doing his best to carry out his duty. Above all else, even the Black Book, he is loyal to Yakumo, and it's noted BB lacks the despair the other Reapers had that made them want to "fight fate." Because of his mutation, he doesn't really consider himself alive and refers to himself as a dead man.
Originally, ten years ago, BB was a contract engineer and friend to Yakumo Kusaka, ever since both started working at Nymphea Paris. Both bonded from being Persona users, though BB didn't consider Yakumo to be serious at the time in regards to making the Schwartz System. When Nymphea Japan was founded, he followed Yakumo only to realize he was using the company's funds to secretly construct the Schwartz System. Liking his passion, BB joined the project, but just before its completion, the system went berserk and started producing a field that mass-produced Grim Reapers. BB saved Yakumo from it, but was caught up in the field and thus was mutated by the Black Book. Most of his body was turned monstrous, being essentially a living "lock" for the Black Book. From then on, believing he could help Yakumo, he chose to remain and help further the development of the system.
Following his transformation, he gained the ability to create Grim Reapers of his own, being the reason as to why the other Reapers gained their weapons as well and their power flows through him. In addition, because of his connection to the Black Book, destroying his Grim Reaper wouldn't reap his Persona and he can just create new or multiple ones for his Persona to wield in combat.
He made his first appearance formally in the manga after catching Rago taking advantage of the organization about to use the Black Book in order to peek at restricted files for his own treacherous gains. However, BB catches him, easily defeating the rogue Reaper and reaping his Persona, despite Rago's pleas to betray Yakumo.
When Kazumi Kiba found himself transported to Nymphea's Schwartz System, he was confronted by BB and fought the Reaper. However, Kazumi was getting gradually overwhelmed since BB lacked the other Reaper's weakness and his own boosted abilities were making things quite difficult. Realizing that victory can't be gained by brute force, Kazumi uses the key form of his Earth Key and is able to defeat BB by inserting it into a section of his chest which seals his ties to the book. Powerless, BB reveals his past to Yakumo and how he was transformed, holding no regrets for his actions since it was done out of support for his friendship with Yakumo. In hopes of freeing Yakumo from despair. However, the System grabs ahold of BB and fuses him with it. Before the fusion's completion, he begs Kazumi to free Yakumo from the cycle of Sin and Punishment, for Yakumo's sake. It's then that Kazumi understands that BB wasn't trying to protect the Black Book, but rather protect Yakumo from the Black Book. Yakumo and the remaining Reapers would find BB's body, with the former crying after the loss of his friend, before ordering his remaining allies to push their efforts into finding the Factory Family, since they held the Red Book.
