History

Ashinaga-jin is one half of a pair of youkai said to be found on the island of Kyūshū, the Ashinaga-tenaga ("long legs long arms"). Ashinaga has extremely long legs and collaborates with Tenaga-jin to catch fish by carrying his partner on his back and wading into the shallow sea with its long legs.

-In Japanese myth, Ashinaga was one of two mythical Chinese fishermen who lived in the seashore of Northern China and combined forces to try and catch an octopus. His name means "Long Legs", and wades through the water with his long legs.
