Details[]
The Hermit Arcana represents a person who is introspective, reclusive, seeks philosophical searches, and understands one's self. On the other hand, a reversed Hermit Arcana represents a person who is unable to keep to oneself and lacks inspiration or self-awareness. The latter can be seen in how the Arcana Hermit drains the energy of the mall (and perhaps the city in time) to increase its own power. It is also reflected in its unnaturally long charge time for its Giga Spark attack, signifying that it does not realize its great vulnerability during this time, and its extremely predictable movepool that is only consisted of powerful electric and physical attacks, allowing a protagonist that resists or nulls both physical and electric to easily wall it all by itself.
Profile[]
Persona 3[]
During the Dark Hour on the sixth full moon (September 5th), the team identifies a shadow near Paulownia Mall, but Fuuka has trouble finding its exact location. Apart from that, Ken tells SEES that Junpei seems to be missing, Fuuka remarks that she doesn't detect him nearby, but by request of Ikutsuki does not try to search further.
The team goes to Paulownia Mall and Fuuka begins scanning the place and finds the Shadow in the wiring room of Club Escapade, after Shinjiro remembers that Rise Kujikawa's gig in the club was canceled due to a malfunctioning power supply. The team heads out to confront and successfully defeat it.
The Arcana Hermit uses electrical skills, due to being hooked up to Club Escapade's wiring. It mainly relies on Electricity spells, sometimes backed by a Mind Charge, so keeping Elec-weak partners and Personas away is advisable. Its signature move, Giga Spark, requires three turns to charge, so it's best to hammer it on the first two turns and switch to defensive (and hopefully Elec-proof) Personas for the big hit. Alternatively, knocking it down will completely cancel the charge, however this can only be done with critical hits, and therefore should not be relied upon.
Vision Quest[]
The Hermit rematch in Portable is much harder, as it now boasts a whopping 16,000 HP that will take a while to defeat. In addition to its Electricity skills, it can randomly toss out a Mamudoon to randomly kill the party, or cast Megidolaon after a Mind Charge. Its Giga Spark comes out a lot faster than usual, as it only takes one turn of Charging instead of three. It also gets an augmented version of Spirit Drain to deplete your party's SP, making it difficult to keep up the battle of attrition.
A quick way to blaze through the boss fight is to use Elec Break and Makarakarn the moment it starts Charging. This reflects the augmented elec attack back at it, with Elec Break neutralizing the Hermit's innate Drain Elec property.

Persona 3 Reload[]
- The boss will always start by using Mazio, followed by charging for Giga Spark by spending two turns (it uses Initiate Charging > Charging Complete > Giga Spark). While charging, it might use Dekaja or Tetrakarn.
- Giga Spark can be stopped from being executed by dealing enough damage to the boss. Offensive Theurgies should do it easily.
- At a low enough amount of HP, the boss will prepare for Tera Spark before using it on the next turn (Accelerated Charging). Its body will be charged with blue-white electricity on the turn it is telegraphing the attack.
- Any one-mores will be spent on attacking random party members with High-Volt Current.

Trivia[]
- In Persona 4, during the Investigation Team's visit to Club Escapade, Rise mentioned a gig she went to at the club, was canceled due to a power failure. In Persona 3, Shinjiro mentions hearing the owner of Club Escapade complaining about the power outage and how he had to cancel "some big event," which suggests this might have been what had canceled Rise's gig.
