Aitvaras is a demon in the series.
History[]
An Aitvaras is a nature spirit from Lithuanian mythology that resembles a white or black rooster with a fiery tail. It can also be described as a bird with the appearance of a dragon while outdoors. They are said to hatch from an egg laid by a rooster that is anywhere from nine to fifteen years old. Upon dying, an Aitvaras will become a spark.
Aitvaras will occupy houses, refusing to leave and bringing either good luck or bad luck to its occupants, along with stolen gold and grain, often getting the household into trouble as a result of its kleptomaniac tendencies.
Appearances[]
- Shin Megami Tensei V / Vengeance: Drake Race
- Soul Hackers 2: Drake Race, Version 1.02
Profile[]
Shin Megami Tensei V[]
"A fairy in Lithuanian mythology.
Indoors, it takes the form of a black cat or rooster. Outdoors, it takes the form of a small dragon or a snake with a burning tail. The Aitvaras makes the home it inhabits rich by stealing from its neighbors. It is said that it typically demands an omelette as compensation and is difficult to chase away once it's settled into a home. It can, however, be exterminated by shining it with the flame of a candle purified by the church."
Aitvaras has an unique skill called Mirage Shot which deals medium Fire damage to an enemy, and can inflict the Mirage ailment.
One Aitvaras in Minato will hold a subquest called "The Ultimate Omelette," in desire to make an omelette, where he'll request the protagonist to steal a Jatayu egg while the punishing foe Jatayu is patrolling the area. Bringing the egg to Aitvaras will reward the protagonist with the Drake Talisman.
Later, should the subquest be completed, the Aitvaras will be seen in Odaiba, Minato, thanking the protagonist for his help. Eventually, talking to the Aitvaras again will instead have him request the protagonist he lets him join as a quest navigator; that is assuming no other demon is taking that spot.
Vengeance[]
Aitvaras is used by Ichiro Dazai when he is able to summon demons and he used this demon when stopping Eisheth Zenunim from killing Miyazu Atsuta along with the timely, but unseen, help from Khonsu.

Aitvaras is a demon of the Drake race, added by the version 1.02 update of the game.[1][2] It can be summoned by fusing it at the Cirque du Goumaden once Ringo reaches Level 43.

Trivia[]
- In an interview with designer Masayuki Doi, Aitvaras was designed as another mascot for the game, similar to Chironnup from Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. It was due to his folklore that the developers have decided to include him in the game.[3]
- Aitvaras is the first Shin Megami Tensei V demon to be included in another entry in the Megami Tensei series, specifically Soul Hackers 2.[1][2]
