- The name Ai means "love, affection" (愛). It is also written similarly to "AI" (Artificial Intelligence) in English, potentially referencing her status as a humanoid robot and her resemblance to Aigis, another humanoid robot.
- Ai's surname Kurogami means "black" (黒) (kuro) and "god, deity" (神) (kami/gami).
