The 20mm Machineguns are first encountered in a pair after the party works their way around the two linked partition doors that were blocking their progress. Upon walking further into the area, the Security System will activate and warn the party away. The fight will begin once the decision to stay is made.

A stronger variant will later appear alongside the Gate Core and Laser Cannon after the party opens up the main path through the facility.
