SMT I, II and If should be at least in the "ehhh i'll play them" tier and Nocturne should be your absolute priority, it's the best game in the franchise. Also, why is Apocalypse higher than IV if you haven't played the later ? It's a sequel.
Idk it just sounds cooler to me
It's not a sequel, it's actually an Alternate Universe/Reality.
It still contains major IV spoilers, however.
Also IV might be harder to play than IVA, so it makes sense.
You can actually play Imagine. There's a fan translation in the works on a private server called Re:IMAGINE. It's not finished yet, so there will be an account wipe once it is done, so be warned.
Also Nocturne > all other mainline games dont @ me.
Put Soul Hackers a little higher. It's massively underrated while only being 30 ish hours for most playthroughs.
I like Apocalypse a lot more than og IV, but you should really play the original IV before going at it. Both because of QoL in Apocalypse making IV hard to go back to and because you'll miss out on a lot of nuance in the worldbuilding of Tokyo + I think prior investment in Flynn and co helps (seriously the story in og IV is just okay, but Tokyo as a hub world kept me wanting more).
P3/5 Dancing is garbage but imo P4D isn't horrible. If you like rhythm games I think it's worth dipping your toes into it.
Otherwise very fair list
Edit: also if you want to experience SMT1 for historical purposes Rasen Bran has a super good concise LP on it. Saved my ass cause I didn't want to replay it at all. I do kind of want people to give If... a chance, I think Tamaki's history as a character is interesting (she reappears in P1 and 2) and the game is super easy to cheese. The only route that matters to me is Reiko's though, it's the canon one. So if you're willing to consider it, I think it's worth putting in the "ehhh" category
(HOT TAKE ALERT) Nocturne is divisive. I think it's a good game but people are hyping it up a bit much. Solid 7.75/10, but it's not better than say, the more universally loved Megaten games, like Devil Survivor. If you play it I'd recommend going in not listening to anyone's praise or criticism of it! Keep your first run as pure from the impressions of others as possible given how much the scale slides on people's opinions of this game.
Why I put each game in their place:
Persona 2 duology: hyped to hell and back, playing rn
SMT4A: Gameplay looked good, nice and simple
DSO: interesting story, people said it was sad
P3FES: Looks very good, but got kinda spoiled
PQ2: I know its bad but there so cute
SMT IV: just got it
SMT III: looks good, just people saying that it would kick my ass
P4G: Looks great, a bit to poppy for me tho
SMT SJ: Same as nocturne but i want to play this more (shwarzwelt looks amazing)
DS2 RB: Idk looks good
PQ: Haven't played either p3 of p4 yet
DDS and DDS2: Look good but more story-centered, and i like balanced
P1: Story looks great, but people say that gameplay is rough
DS SH: Story is not my thing, but characters look cool
RD and RD2: I think raidou looks awesome, but action rpgs are not interesting to me
P4A: not my thing srry
SMT first gen: tried it out, hate the first person stuff
Persona dancing: suck at rythmn games
SMT Nine: looks crappy
What do you think?
