I want to play more but I don't know where to start.
Of the series I played:
*Devil Survivor 2 (If the remake is better please tell me)
*Shin Megami Tensei SNES (Aeon Genesis translation)
*Persona 3 Portable
*Currently playing the first Persona game on PSP
If you want to get into the main series it seems like you'd like 4 apocalypse the best
Persona 3 portable is good but Atlus removed a lot of things, you move in the city with a cursor (instead of a character like Persona 3 FES)
But P3FES has uncontrollable characters (you can control them with tactic but not manually like P3P)
This is not recommendatiin
It's just a note
My recommendation is Persona 5
This game is awesome
Yiu don't have to play other persona / shin-mega-ten games for it
I want to play FES but I hear a mix of stuff when it comes to The Answer.
Why don't you consider another game franchise?
When I first played p5 I thought it was the best game ever made alongside fallout 4
I guess I was wrong ..... (Danganronpa wrecked it)
Devil Survivor 2 is a great entry point into other Persona games (mainly 3, 4, and 5) because of the Fate System (and yes, the remake is better. The voice acting is a pretty big plus and there's a second "campaign" or story mode to go through which is really cool). Devil Survivor 1 would be a good entry point into mainline SMT games as it focuses on the alignments (Law, Chaos, and Neutrality) more and will introduce you to the angels vs demons thing going on in a lot of the SMT games. Another good one for this would be SMT Apocalypse, which is decently difficult and has a focus on friendship like in Persona (though to a lesser degree and there isn't anything like a social link or fate system).
If you want something more cinematic, Digital Devil Saga is super good. It's quite different from the other games in terms of story but the gameplay is just like Nocturne (which would be a good follow up since it's harder than DDS and is a mainstream SMT game) excluding the demon recruiting system (of which there isn't one in DDS, but they have a different system that allows the party members to learn every skill in the game through skill trees and it's pretty cool).
If you like Persona 1, Strange Journey (Redux) would be good as it's a mix between the 1st person dungeon crawling of P1 and the more modern battle systems from the majority of the series (and also has the alignment system and angels vs demons). After Persona 1 I'd highly recommend 2. The battle system changes a little but the story is reeeaaaaaalllly good and it's way less dated.
Persona 5 is also really accessible to new players and if you like action RPGs, checking out Raidou Kuzunoha (which is very different than the other games in terms of gameplay) would be a good idea.
After you get through any of mainstream SMT games or DDS, it's really easy to branch into whatever you want. Since you've played Persona 1 that'll make it easier to get into the older ones too. Hopefully this helps at least a little bit!
Ok. Thanks everyone
What do you think?
