Title's pretty self-explanatory. I have a 3DS, a switch, and have a PS2 emulator
You are right and scaring a person away from SMT games would be a bad thing because truly they are some of the best games out there! :)
Yes. Sin now the question is how long after getting into SMT should someone wait to play Noctern?
For me it was after playing the rest of the PS2 games. But I fell it could be played after having found your introductory game and then beat a second more challenging SMT.
I think it makes a good third game.
I would say Nocturne would be good for your third game. Start with Devil Summoner, move to Digital Devil Saga and then get your Nocturne on! I still haven’t beaten Nocturne, I have to go back and do so but I did beat Matador on the game, which took awhile for me. Working on Digital Devil Saga now.
Now with the PS2 era out of the way now for my recommendations for 3DS. If you like turn based strategy games start with the Devil Survivor games. I would recommend the 3DS versions of those games because the add some demons and scenes. But if you don’t have the money to get the 3DS versions the DS originals are still good. These games don’t have negotiation either.
If you prefer a traditional turn based RPG Devil Summoner Soul Hackers is a good place to go. It has dungeon crawling and demon negotiation. But keep in mind the demon personality system they have. This isn’t a spoiler so I’ll ahead and explain it.
Demons have loyalty in this game and the higher their loyalty the more they will do what you tell them. If you loyalty is low they will disobey your orders.
When at max loyalty they will always listen and their loyalty will not go down.
Kind demons like to heal.
Wild demons like to use physical attacks.
Dumb demons like to use the attack option.
Calm demons like to use magic attacks.
Sly demons like to use status ailments.
The None personally will always listen to you.
SMT IV is a good second or third game. Ad IV Apocalypse is basically a alternate ending to IV.
As for Persona Q don’t play it until you’ve played either Persona 3 or 4. I recommend having played both for story reasons. But it played like a Etrion Odessa game. Which is also made by Atlus.
Strange Journey is a first person dungeon crawler that would have been SMT IV except for the setting being different. It is considered the hardest DS/3DS game. So don’t start with it.
Also I forgot in the PS2 era Persona 3 and 4 are also good starting points. But if you do start with them push Noctern back one game in your order of games.
Yeah, I'm halfway through Persona 3. Don't need to tell me about that.
So I'll start with Devil Survivor, then SMTIV, the SMTIV Apocalypse, Digital Devil Saga, then SMT III Nocturne
Is that a good plan?
Sound like a good order to me.
Start with Persona 3
I'm saying SMT not Megami Tensei
What do you think?
